Admob February 2009 Metrics

Some points of interest:
  • Android is responsible for 5% of all ad requests in the US.
  • The iPhone accounts for 33% of worldwide smartphone traffic, and 49.5% of US smartphone traffic.
  • Symbian's worldwide share of traffic has dropped from 64% to 43% within 6 months.
  • Symbian did not even make it to the top 5 of US share of traffic.
  • RIM has 20% US share.
  • US is top generator of ad traffic at 43.6% share.
  • Indonesia is 2nd with 14.4% share.
  • North America has 45.7% share, while Asia has 34.3% share.
  • Eastern and Western Europe combine for only 9.8%.
  • However, bulk of Asian traffic is generated by Nokia / Symbian.
Note that these figures represent share of ad traffic on Admob's network. Hence, devices that consumers tend to use more for web-surfing are going to register a larger share.
